Michigan energy policy positive for agriculture
The president of the Michigan Agri-Business Association says the state’s recently passed energy policy is a win for agriculture.
“We have a lot of folks that have pursued energy efficiency programs, energy audits, those are going to be part of the new energy policy going forward. Renewable energy is going to continue to be a part of it, that’s important to some of those who have enjoyed some of the benefits of some of the wind programs and even solar to some extent.”
Jim Byrum tells Brownfield energy policy reforms creates a new approval process for utilities planning to replace aging coal-fired power plants, increases renewable energy mandates and keeps the state’s limited “electric choice” program.
