Lucas-produced film has anti-animal activist message

The founder of Protect the Harvest premiered his film Running Wild last week in Hollywood, and again in Springfield, Missouri.  Forrest Lucas tells Brownfield the movie, about a widow saving her ranch by rehabilitating wild horses with the help of convicts, is made with a message.

“This is about the way horses are treated on the western lands because they’re over-populated,” Lucas told Brownfield Ag News following the movie’s premier Friday.  “People watch that; it’s hard to tell them about all the crazy stuff going on in America right now with animal rights extremists, but these movies tell it.”

The film’s message is that the actions of activists have resulted in more horses than can be supported by the land they’re on, according to Lucas.  A Hollywood veteran, he says, was recruited because of the storyline.

“Sharon Stone came in and worked for us because she liked the message herself, and there were a lot of other people there working for us, because they liked the message,” he said.  “That makes it [so that] we can probably do it for half what somebody else would have to pay for it, or even less.”

Lucas, the owner of Lucas Oil, produced another film before with a similar message called The Dog Lover.

  • On the contrary, this movie has the backing of the pro horse slaughter lobby and the so-called welfare ranchers who want to run cattle and sheep over public lands at the expense of the wild mustangs and the expense of the American public. One only needs to see that “Protect the Harvest” , a lobby for “Big Ag” is involved. Please boycott this film and call your congressmen and ask that they cosponsor H.R.113 to help protect the American Mustang.

    • Forrest Lucas supports puppy mills, extreme cage confinement of chickens, and, of course, mass slaughter of wild mustangs in the Southwest. He’s a dangerous anti-animal welfare activist because he’s so insidiously clever at disguising the fact that he’s on the side of factory farmers.

  • Wish you cared about people as much as you care about animals. If you choose to be a vegetarian allow us the same privilege to eat what we want. Starving is not a good time.
