Low path AI detected in Western Kentucky

A case of low pathogenic avian influenza detected in a commercial poultry flock in western Kentucky is being investigated.

The Kentucky Department of Agriculture says the low path H7N9 virus has been confirmed.  Kentucky State Veterinarian Dr. Robert Stout says there were no clinical signs of disease in the birds, but the affected premises are under quarantine and the flock of about 22,000 hens has been depopulated as a precaution.
