One of Nebraska’s largest farms will be auctioned off this week.

Thomas Land Company, which consists of nearly 29-thousand acres of pasture, along with irrigated and non-irrigated crop ground, will be auctioned Thursday in Ogallala.

The land is situated on the edge of the Sand Hills ranching country between the North Platte and South Platte Rivers. Much of the farm overlooks the Lake McConaughy reservoir.

The land will be offered in 50 tracts and combinations ranging in size from 10 acres to more than 5,000 acres. Major crops are wheat and corn.

The auction firm, Hall and Hall Auctions of Eaton, Colorado, says the auction has drawn interest from more than 500 people already. They expect the bidders to be a mix of farmers, ranchers and investors.

The farm and ranch operation was put together by the late Michael Thomas. He died in 2015 at the age of 74.
