INFB names its 2017 Young Farmer Awards Finalists

The Indiana Farm Bureau has named finalists for two of its Young Farmer awards.

The Excellence in Agriculture award recognizes outstanding young Farm Bureau members who do not earn the majority of their income from an owned agricultural operation.  The three finalist are Jeff Demerly (Wolcott, IN), Jonathon and Derika Spaetti (Richland,IN) , and Ben and Casey Shireman (Lexington, IN).

The winner will receive a John Deere Gator, a $3,000 cash prize, and an all-expense paid trip to compete at the national contest held during the American Farm Bureau’s annual meeting.

The Achievement Award recognizes outstanding young Farm Bureau members whose commitment to their communities set a positive example for others involved in production agriculture.  The three finalists are Matthew and Brianna Chapman (Springport, IN), Brent and Ashley Reed (Nappanee, IN), and Neal and Lydia Wolheter (Kendallville, IN). 

Winners of the Achievement Award receive a $6,000 cash prize, 250 hours use of one M-Series tractor, and an all-expense paid trip to compete at the American Farm Bureau’s annual convention.
