Indiana Farm Bureau delegation sets policy

Policy recommendations that will guide Indiana Farm Bureau in 2018 have been set.

Indiana Farm Bureau president Randy Kron says the Farm Bill topped the discussion, and federal crop insurance will be a top priority for next year.

He says the recommendation, if approved by American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF), would insure that crop insurance is funded if there are budget cuts.

Kron tells Brownfield Indiana Farm Bureau is also concerned about the farm bill’s commodity, conservation, and trade titles.

The state board will now set their priorities based on the recommendations of delegates. Included in the priorities that Indiana Farm Bureau will try to get into AFBF policy is nutrition legislation.

Kendell Culp, vice president of the organization, says there is an issue with food deserts and the access to healthy food options.
