Illinois budget to restore some ag program funding

Several agriculture programs are expected to receive funding now that the Illinois legislature has passed a budget, overriding the governor’s veto of three budget bills late last week.

According to Illinois Farm Bureau, the programs are not new, but had been zeroed out of the budget or underfunded.  They include University of Illinois Extension, Soil and Water Conservation districts, ag education, county fairs and the National Corn-to-Ethanol Research Center at Southern Illinois University.
