IL corn and soybeans mostly fair to good

The Illinois corn crop took progressed last week, with 63-percent silking as of Sunday. That’s slightly behind the five-year-statewide average. Corn condition is mostly fair to good. At 76 percent, that’s four percentage points down from early July.

Fifty-six percent of soybeans are blooming, in line with the average. About 80-percent of soybeans are in fair to good shape, which has held steady for several weeks.

Much needed rain fell statewide last week – more than an inch, on average. Temperatures and rainfall were above normal.
