HSUS backs animal rights measure in Congress

It looks like the issue of animal rights has reached the U.S. Congress.

According to meatingplace.com, a bill backed by the Humane Society of the United States has been introduced by two House members from California.   It would set rules around confinement of animals used to produce food purchased by the federal government.

HSUS praised the proposal and urged Congress to act swiftly to pass the bill.  In a news release, HSUS said the bill “simply requires that any food purchased for federal programs comes from animals raised with enough room to stand up, lie down, turn around and stretch their limbs.”

According to HSUS, the federal government spends more than one billion dollars buying animal products for a variety of programs and agencies, including the national school lunch program, the armed services and the bureau of prisons.

  • With ALL the troubles plaguing our nation, you would think that the congresspeople would be so very busy with the highest priority of issues which is trying to save our nation. WHY do they have time to harass the farmers, ranchers and animal owners, breeders? I think it is time for a job review and they should get a review of NEEDS IMPROVEMENT. This means, Out of a JOB unless things improve.
Hey! I have it! Let’s OutSource Congress!!
Sure. They are allowing American Jobs to be out-sourced. Why Not Theirs?
All of our private info is already flying around the world to one country or another. Who needs them anymore???

  • Pretty easy for people like hsus who blackmail and brainwash people so they can have unlimited funds to do non-productive work maybe 3 to 4 days a week in a perfect temputure controlled enviroment! While the farmers are out there in every element that mother nature dishes out and then deal with the (*BLEEP*) that the hsus pulls out of the air in order to waste more American Tax Dollars!

  • Did you know that the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is not affiliated with any of your local humane societies or animal shelters? They are a Humane Society in name only. Of the monies raised in the name of Animal welfare, only 1/2 of 1% actually goes to any local shelters. They are a lobby group with offices in Washington DC and Hollywood CA.

  • It’s time for all animal owners to band together. The HSUS is kicking out behinds at every turn. Before you know it we will all be eating tofu, and animal ownership will be totally banned.
