Hartman looks forward to working on corn demand

Southern Illinois corn grower Kenny Hartman says he looks forward to working on National Corn Growers Association projects to boost corn profitability.

“I’m really enthusiastic about some of the things that are going on with ethanol and working on some of the other issues to create demand for corn,” Hartman told Brownfield Ag News Friday.

Hartman – who was elected to the National Corn Board during the recent Corn Congress in Washington – says it’s important that U.S.-grown corn be marketed to overseas customers.

“We’re the bread basket of the world, we’re trying the feed the world and we need to keep working on trade agreements and working to export grain to these other countries that need our food,” he said.

Hartman farms near Waterloo, Illinois.
