House GOP budget cuts $10-Billion ag/nutrition

The House Republican budget proposal, released today, calls for $10-Billion-dollars in spending cuts to ag programs in the next 10 years. It recommends curtailing spending on the SNAP nutrition program through state flexibility, but no details are provided. The $10-billion cut is much less than the initial proposal of cutting $70-Billion dollars from agriculture.

House Ag Committee Ranking member Colin Peterson issued a statement saying “singling out the SNAP program will kill the farm bill.”
