Fuels America cuts ties with Renewable Fuels Association

The Fuels America Coalition has severed ties with the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) amid rumors of an executive order by President Trump involving the Renewable Fuel Standard.

On Tuesday, RFA president and CEO Bob Dinneen released a statement saying the Trump Administration notified him that an executive order changing the point of obligation from ethanol refiners to position holders at the terminal was imminent.

Dinneen says despite RFA’s opposition to this, he was told it was not negotiable.

He claims Trump also planned to cut through burdensome Reid Vapor Pressure regulations to allow greater E-15 access during the summer.

Fuels America responded by saying oil investor and special White House advisor Carl Icahn (eye-con) is seeking to destabilize the RFS by misleading biofuel advocates into accepting rewrites in exchange for changes to outdated EPA regulations.

Fuels America claims the Renewable Fuels Association has elected to lend its support to Mr. Icahn, and RFA’s position no longer aligns with that of the Coalition.

Dinneen issued another statement Wednesday, saying he has great respect for the Fuels America Coalition and its members, believing deeply in their mission.

He says there seems to be some misinformation about his discussions with the White House, and that RFA will continue to work toward its goal of protecting the integrity of the RFS.

White House officials are denying a pending executive order on ethanol exists.
