Fueling Freedom event to provides support for Indiana National Guard

An Indiana cooperative continues its support of the state’s National Guard units with its Fueling Freedom program.

Matt Smorch with CountryMark says this is the ninth year for the event.  “It’s CountryMark’s way of really recognizing those that protect us and serve our country,” he says.

He tells Brownfield the program provides fifty cents from every gallon of fuel sold to local National Guard Family Readiness Groups.  “It’s used for things that most people don’t really think of,” he says.  “It’s really to support families (of those deployed).  They hold summer picnics, they hold Christmas dinners, they send packages for deployed soldiers, and they do afterschool programs for the children.”

Last year CountryMark raised $64,000.  Smorch says their goal this year is to exceed that total.  Thirty-nine stations in Indiana and one in Ohio are participating in Fueling Freedom on Friday June 23.   Locations can be found HERE.
