First Minnesota Crop Progress report of 2017

Scattered reports of small grain planting highlight the first weekly Crop Progress Report of 2017 for Minnesota.

The USDA says fieldwork for the last week of March was limited to less than two days because of wet field conditions.

Activities included the planting of oats and spring wheat, spreading manure, applying fertilizer, and rock picking.

The majority of soils feature adequate to surplus moisture, and the report also notes that cattle producers continue spring calving.
