Farm Bureau is drawing attention to the issues of ag labor and immigration reform through a new video.

AFBF director of congressional relations Kristi Boswell says farmers need access to a legal, stable workforce to protect the nation’s food supply.

“For our farmers and ranchers across America, it really is about making sure they can get their crops out of their fields and making sure their ranches are safe on the border.  And we need Congress to act and pass responsible immigration reform.”

She tells Brownfield the video captures the labor crisis by focusing on some of the challenges faced by pecan, vegetable and cattle producers in Arizona.

“What’s really unique about this is it does tie together the border security element with the agricultural labor needs.  Both are critical components to responsible immigration reform, both are areas that Farm Bureau supports.  But, they both need to be done in a manner that doesn’t hurt the agricultural workforce.”

The video, produced by Farm Bureau, features Zippy Duvall touring the western region as part of his transition education since beginning his tenure as president.
