Export inspections stay on pace
The USDA reports corn, soybean, and wheat export inspections as of the week ending August 17th remain ahead of what’s needed to meet projections for their respective marketing years. The 2016/17 marketing year for beans, corn, and sorghum runs through the end of August and the 2017/18 marketing year for wheat started June 1st.
Wheat came out at 583,126 tons, up 71,502 from the week ending August 10th and 45,639 higher than the week ending August 18th, 2016. For the 2017/18 marketing year to date, wheat inspections are 6,756,174 tons, compared to 6,039,050 in 2016/17.
Corn was reported at 691,442 tons, down 69,875 from the previous week and 588,162 lower than this time last year. With only a couple of reporting weeks left in the 2016/17 marketing year, corn inspections are 55,254,686 tons, compared to 44,152,270 late in 2015/16.
Soybeans were pegged at 665,283 tons, 74,665 more than the prior week, but 281,609 less than a year ago. Near the end of this marketing year, soybean inspections are 56,331,933 tons, compared to 49,552,412 last year.
Sorghum inspections totaled 105,818 tons. That’s an increase of 36,193 tons on the week and 54,934 on the year. 2016/17 sorghum inspections are 5,809,291 tons, compared to 8,543,204 in 2015/16.
