EU approval process continues for Monsanto/Bayer

European Commission officials are expected to release their conditions for Monsanto’s $66 billion merger with Bayer this week.

While the companies say they expect the merger to be approved by the end of this year, any major concessions raised could push the deal into 2018.

BASF and Syngenta have already started the bidding process for Bayer’s ag assets that need to be divested as part of the merger.

The commission approved Chem China’s acquisition of Syngenta and Dow’s merger with DuPont earlier in the year after a lengthy list of conditions.
