DuPont on dicamba supply agreement

A first time partnership between DuPont and Monsanto aims to bring a new weed-fighting tool to farmers. Dave Johnson, DuPont’s product development manager for soybean herbicides, says it marries traits with dicamba weed control. Johnson tells Brownfield Ag News, “Providing this new FeXapan herbicide technology, in combination with the Roundup Ready 2 Xtend trait will provide a great tool to growers to achieve those yield goals.”

Johnson tells Brownfield dicamba has a history of effective use in many crops and it’s environmentally safe, “This formulation is designed to be very low in volatility and we expect that to significantly reduce the potential for off-target effects.”

Johnson cautions growers to not rely on just one tool for fighting resistant weeds, “Use multiple modes of action, use residual herbicides, use two-pass weed control systems, starting with a clean seed bed.” Pending regulatory approval, Johnson says the product will be ready for growers in 2017.
