DuPont Pioneer is deepening its relationship with a leading provider of aerial data and safety platforms for drones.

Neil Hausmann is technical lead for integrating technologies with PrecisionHawk.

“The idea is to have (PrecisionHawk) as the platform hardware and software service provider working with us.  What (DuPont Pioneer) brings of course is the agronomic knowledge (and) deep germplasm knowledge that we’ve always worked with.”

He says this collaboration allows DuPont Pioneer to generate better products for its customers.

“One of the ways we see this technology adding value going forward is helping manage risk.  So you know the variability in your fields in real time as you collect imagery throughout the season.  You get a better feeling for how your crop is performing and where your risks are.”

Hausmann says while the commercial use of drones is currently limited, DuPont Pioneer wanted to be ready with this technology pending full FAA approval.
