Dryness becoming a concern in parts of Minnesota

Dryness is becoming more of a concern in parts of Minnesota.

In its latest crop progress report, the USDA says topsoil and subsoil moisture supplies decreased during the week ending Sunday.

West-central Minnesota farmer Noah Hultgren says his crops are doing ok, for now.

“So long as we don’t get a real super-hot stretch without any moisture.”

Crop condition ratings for the state also decreased slightly, but remain among the highest in the U.S.

Corn was 20 percent silked, a week behind last year. Nearly half of Minnesota’s soybean acreage has bloomed, four days behind average.

And there were scattered reports of oats being harvested.
