Days of Service unofficial kick off to National FFA Convention

The National FFA Convention marked its return to Indianapolis by taking to heart the last line of the FFA motto – “Living to Serve”.  Members unofficially kicked off next week’s convention by transforming FFA Way as part of the organization’s National Days of Service.

Josh Bledsoe, COO of the organization says he wants members to understand the importance of giving back.  “When we come to Indianapolis – how fitting is it for us to do that in this host city,” he says.  “We want the city to know how much we appreciate them by giving those hours of service back to it.”

National FFA president Taylor McNeal says individual acts of service might be small in size – but when 65,000 students come together – it has a profound impact. “And really show a student how they can transform their community through service projects and really instill that value of service in them,” she says.

Jane Ade Stevens, CEO of the Indiana Corn and Soybean Associations says she’s excited to have all the blue jackets back in the city.  She says those FFA members have a huge impact on the future of agriculture – not just in Indiana but around the world.  “Because these are the folks who will figure out how we will continue to feed the rest of the world,” she says.
