Corn, soybean export inspections stay on pace to meet estimates

The USDA reports soybean and corn export inspections for the week ending March 2nd were more than what’s needed to meet USDA projections for the 2016/17 marketing year.

Wheat came out at 535,920 tons, down 7,398 from the week ending February 23rd, but up 86,894 from the week ending March 3rd, 2016. For the 2016/17 marketing year to date, wheat inspections are 19,468,269 tons, compared to 15,257,768 in 2015/16.

Corn was reported at 1,444,972 tons, 22,975 lower than the previous week, but 473,167 higher than this time last year. So far this marketing year, corn inspections are 27,358,327 tons, compared to 15,738,551 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 921,779 tons, 215,512 more than the prior week, but 173,657 less than last year. At this point in the marketing year, soybean inspections are 44,312,383 tons, compared to 39,701,257 a year ago.

Sorghum inspections totaled 54,850 tons. That’s a decrease of 79,109 tons on the week and 53,510 on the year. 2016/17 sorghum inspections are 3,233,803 tons, compared to 5,264,865 in 2015/16.
