Corn, soybean export inspections stay on needed pace

The USDA reports corn and soybean export inspections, for the week ending May 18th, remain on pace to meet projections for the 2016/17 marketing year. The 2016/17 marketing year runs through the end of May for wheat and through the end of August for corn, soybeans, and sorghum.

Wheat came out at 674,559 tons, down 20,457 from the week ending May 11th, but up 369,423 from the week ending May 19th, 2016. Nearing the end of the 2016/17 marketing year, wheat inspections are 26,428,815 tons, compared to 19,578,373 late in 2015/16.

Corn was reported at 1,144,187 tons, 276,082 lower than the previous week and 3,669 less than this time last year. For the marketing year to date, corn inspections are 41,913,002 tons, compared to 27,615,874 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 348,535 tons, 64,060 higher than the week before and 260,186 more than last year. So far this marketing year, soybean inspections are 50,447,843 tons, compared to 43,365,272 a year ago.

Sorghum inspections totaled 60,062 tons. That’s a decrease of 7,274 tons on the week, but an increase of 8,031 on the year. 2016/17 sorghum inspections are 4,533,920 tons, compared to 7,027,068 in 2015/16.
