Corn Congress farmers talking WX concerns

A newly elected member of the NCGA board of directors says the weather has been a big topic at Corn Congress in Washington, DC.

Gary Porter is president of the Missouri Corn Growers Association, “Boy, you can’t believe the stories you’re hearing. You’ll hear one person where they’re getting plenty of rain, it’s actually TOO wet. You’ll take to another farmer that’s not very far away from him and he’s on the edge on the drought. You know, it’s really interesting to hear what all the farmers are talking about.”

Porter says the forecast is causing concern, “With that heatwave coming in here it’s going to be really rough on the corn crop and I think we need to be watching the markets and seeing what they do and keep watching your crop.”

Porter is a corn and soybean farmer in Mercer County, Missouri on the Iowa border.
