CHS helps launch online agronomy training tool

The nation’s largest cooperative is partnering with the American Society of Agronomy to provide an online program focused on sustainability.

Minnesota-based CHS will collaborate with the Society–headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, to develop a curriculum designed for agronomists and agribusiness professionals.

CHS vice president of retail agronomy Gary Halvorson says their farmer-members look to agronomists to help increase efficiency alongside best practices in agricultural sustainability.

By deploying what he calls best-in-class training and sharing that with the industry, Halvorson says the program will improve social, economic, and environmental aspects of farming.

Measuring sustainability, 4R nutrient stewardship, resistance management, and precision applications are expected to be covered.

The training will be offered in the form of webinars, and available to CHS staff first.

The program will then be open to others through the Society of Agronomy’s online learning platform, with an open enrollment period expected later this year.
