Chinese delegation to sign soybean purchase contract in Iowa

A delegation of soybean buyers from China will be in Des Moines Thursday for the signing of a soybean trade agreement contract.

The exact volume of the purchase agreement won’t be known until tomorrow. At similar events last year, China buyers committed to purchase nine million metric tons of U.S. soybeans worth more than four billion dollars.

In addition to soy, the Chinese delegation is also expected to sign contracts for U.S. sorghum, pork and beef at the Iowa event.

Among those attending the signing ceremony will be Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, ag secretary Bill Northey and commodity group leaders.
