China has placed a temporary ban on beef and lamb exports from six Australian processing plants over alleged concerns about labeling discrepancies on products.

Australian government officials have confirmed the ban is in place, vowing to work closely with the country’s beef industry and Chinese officials to get the ban resolved.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that, given the scale and value of Australia’s growing beef export trade to China, news of the ban has sent ripples around the industry. Australian government officials say it could impact more than 100 million dollars of beef trade with China, which was valued at 866 million dollars in 2015-16. China is Australia’s fourth-largest market for beef exports.

The dispute doesn’t involve food safety concerns or health issues.
