Central Indiana planting update

Central Indiana farmer Anngie Steinbarger says planting season has been off to a great start.   “We’re on our last 50 acres of corn and corn planting will be completed for the season,” she says.  “Our soybean planting is coming right along – and we’re about half done with soybeans.”

She tells Brownfield it’s been an unusually dry spring and she’s concerned.  “We’re worried that some of the soybeans that we’ve planted might break their necks coming up,” she says.  “We’ve tried working some ground and had to work it two or three times.  That’s not normally our practice – and we’ve had to put a little more effort to getting seed into the ground this year.”

Rain is in the forecast for most of Indiana over the next several days.
