Cargill donation to help western Kansas ranchers

Wildfires consumed more than 1,000 square miles of rural Kansas with much of the impact on grazing land on ranches in the western part of the state.  In response, Cargill’s Wichita-based North America protein business has donated $50,000 in new fencing materials to help ranchers in Western Kansas rebuild.

Casey Mabry with Cargill says the Kansas Livestock Association told the company fencing materials were needed most to help rebuild what was lost in the fire. He says a lot of cattle producers lost herds, buildings, fences, and grazing land.

Cargill Wichita purchased two semi-trailer loads of fencing materials that were delivered on Tuesday to relief efforts in the Ashland, KS area – from there the materials will be distributed to local ranchers.
