Board drops complaint about MO veterinarian

The State Veterinary Medical Board has dropped a complaint against a central Missouri veterinarian. According to the Columbia Daily Tribune, the farmer who filed the complaint against Loren Schultz, who’s a food/animal vet at the University of Missouri, is considering filing a lawsuit. Hallsville farmer Gary Morrison says 17 of his 70 cross-breed black Angus calves died shortly after Schultz treated them last December. The head of the university veterinary medicine department issued a statement saying he’s pleased the board has decided to take no disciplinary action against Schultz who, in his words, exemplifies the college’s “commitment to provide excellence in animal care to Missourians.” Morrison claims the vet used experimental medication on his calves without his permission and tells the paper he was not able to tell his side of the story.
