More beginning farmers and ranchers securing credit

The Farm Credit Administration says beginning farmer and rancher loans increased by 12 percent last year.

The Administration says almost 80,000 new loans, totaling close to $13 billion, were made to beginning farmers and ranchers in 2015. That’s up more than 5,000 loans than the year before and the most Farm Credit has ever granted.  The average size of a loan to a beginning farmer or rancher increased to $160,000.

Farm Credit says news loans to beginning farmers and ranchers have increased more than 45 percent over the last decade.
