Bayer & Monsanto execs meet with Trump

Monsanto and Bayer-AG top executives met with president-elect Donald Trump Wednesday in New York about the planned sale of Monsanto to Bayer. A leading member of Trump’s ag advisory team, Bruce Rastetter, has expressed concern about the merger, saying it would reduce seed and chemical choices for farmers and raise prices. Rastetter is the chief executive of Summit Agricultural group, a grain and livestock farming operation in Iowa. Monsanto tells Brownfield Bayer CEO Werner Baumann and Monsanto CEO Hugh Grant “had a productive meeting with President-Elect Trump and his team to share their views on the future of the agriculture industry and its need for innovation.”
