American Soybean Association pleased with President’s farm task force

The American Soybean Association (ASA) is pleased with the formation of the White House task force to address challenges facing farmers.  ASA President Ron Moore, tells Brownfield he was frustrated by delays in confirming Secretary Perdue, but he says he’s happy that the President’s executive order recognizes the work of farmers.

“And so we’re encouraged by the significant sign that the President has said, ‘Look, America, agriculture is important and we’re going to do what we can immediately to make things better,’” Moore told Brownfield Ag News Wednesday.

Moore says that by specifically noting a safe, affordable food supply being critical to U.S. stability, President Trump sets a foundation for future conversations about agriculture.

“And we’re also reaching out the secretary to make sure that we have an opportunity to engage with him on issues that are important to soybean farmers,” Moore said.

Moore says the task force set up by President Trump Tuesday will help move agriculture forward, addressing regulatory barriers and infrastructure investments agriculture depends on.
