Accelerated Genetics members approve Select Sires merger

The cooperative owner-members of Accelerated Genetics have approved merging with Select Sires.  With Thursday’s vote, Accelerated Genetics assets will be acquired by Select Sires July 1st.

The merger was recommended by both cooperatives’ board of directors in early June, but the vote was not unanimous.

The merged company will operate under the Select Sires name, and be based in Plum City, Ohio.  A joint press release says Select Sires will acquire all Accelerated Genetics assets, integrating employees and sales representatives in each of their geographic member organizations.  The two companies already share ownership of World Wide Sires LTD.

The 75-year-old Baraboo, Wisconsin-based Accelerated Genetics used to be known as Tri-State Breeders, and acquired Nebraska Bull Service last year.  It was honored as Wisconsin’s top agricultural exporter in 2011.
