36% of U.S. soybeans, 22% of corn harvested

The U.S. soybean harvest made a solid advance last week. At 36%, the pace is still behind last year and the five year average, but was up 14% from the previous week’s figure. 89% of the crop is dropping leaves, compared to 87% on average, and 61% is rated good to excellent, up 1% on the week, when conditions generally decline as harvest picks up steam.

22% of corn is harvested, only up 5% on the week and well behind average, with maturity still slower than normal and a number of producers focusing on beans. The corn condition rating also went against seasonal trends, up 1% to 64% good to excellent.

48% of winter wheat is planted and 25% has emerged, both behind average because of the slow corn and soybean harvest paces and recent rainfall in key U.S. growing areas.

41% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent shape, unchanged from a week ago.
