Solid gains for milk futures, cash cheese

Class III milk futures at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange were higher on follow through buying. August was up $.03 at $16.50, September was $.10 higher at $17.19, October was up $.09 at $17.39, and November was $.06 higher at $17.27.

Cash cheese blocks were $.0125 higher at $1.755. Three loads were sold, at $1.7425, $1.745, and $1.7475. The last unfilled bid was on one load at $1.755. The last uncovered offer was for one load at $1.7575. Barrels were up $.07 at $1.6575. Three loads were sold, including one at $1.6575. The last unfilled bid was on one load at $1.655. The last uncovered offer was for two loads at $1.66.

Butter was $.0125 lower at $2.67. Five loads were sold, two at $2.67 and three at $2.6725. The last unfilled bid was on one load at $2.6625. The last uncovered offer was for four loads at $2.67.

Nonfat dry milk was unchanged at $.85. The last unfilled bid was on two loads at $.8475. The last uncovered offer was for ten loads at $.875.

The next Global Dairy Trade event is scheduled for Tuesday, August 15th.

Cooperatives Working Together announced the acceptance of 11 requests for export assistance from member co-ops, covering 1.601 million pounds of Cheddar, Gouda, and Monterey Jack cheeses. The products are headed to Asia and the Middle East, with delivery slated for August through November 2017.
