Informa lowers winter wheat estimate

Informa Economics is projecting a year to year decline for U.S. winter wheat production.

Informa sees all winter wheat at 1.631 billion bushels, 1% less than 2012, with a decrease in hard red production cancelling out an increase for soft red. Due to continued drought in the Plains, hard red is pegged at 903 million bushels, 101 million below last year, and soft red is estimated at 506 million bushels, 86 million more than a year ago.

USDA’s next set of supply and demand estimates is out Wednesday, April 10 at Noon Eastern/11 AM Central.
