Reducing antibiotic use in beef cattle
The pressure on livestock and poultry producers to reduce their reliance on antibiotics continues to build.
Cargill recently announced that it is eliminating 20 percent of shared-class antibiotics–those deemed important for human medicine and farm animals–from its cattle feeding operations. We discussed that decision and possible ramifications with Cargill spokesman Mike Martin.
