Larry has been a Wisconsinite his entire life. His parents, uncles, aunts, and cousins grew up on farms in the Ferryville, Eastman and Gays Mills areas in southwestern Wisconsin, but he grew up on a northwestern Wisconsin fishing resort near Chetek. Along with the ample opportunities to fish and ride dirt bikes, Larry’s family had a huge garden, a couple of horses and raised their own beef. Unlike today’s modern equipment, the workhorses of the resort were a 1962 International Scout with three shift levers and a Farmall H tractor.

When Larry finished high school, he attended Western Technical College (formerly Western Wisconsin Technical Institute) where he received a degree in communications. When he graduated, he thought he would end up with a career in either photography or television production, but instead ended up in radio beginning in 1984 at WAQE in Rice Lake. From there, Larry was News Director and then Program Director at WXCE in Amery and also did some work for WLDY in Ladysmith and the former WIXK in New Richmond.

In 1996, Larry moved to the Stevens Point area where he has worked in radio news for several radio stations in two ownership groups. After ten years away from full-time radio, Larry returned to serve as the News Director at News-Talk-Sports station WSAU in Wausau from 2012 until 2016.

Larry is married to Carla Lee, and has two grown step-children and four grandchildren in central Wisconsin. He enjoys camping, fishing, cooking and spending time with the family. He is also a big fan of the Green Bay Packers, the Wisconsin Badgers, Milwaukee Brewers and Milwaukee Bucks.
