John Deere adds new services under FarmSight umbrella

John Deere recently held a FarmSight Technology Summit for members of the media.  It took place in and around Des Moines.

The purpose of the event was to introduce several new services that are being added as part of John Deere’s FarmSight strategy, which integrates technology and equipment to link operators, farm managers, and dealers.

The new services include MyJohnDeere.com, which will allow ag producers to manage their equipment information, production data and farm operations from a single website; Implement Detection, which allows operators to save implement control settings; Mobile Weather, a GreenStar compatible system that monitors five important weather conditions; and Remote Display Access, which gives owners, managers and dealers the ability to view an operator’s display remotely.

We discussed these latest FarmSight developments with Jerry Roell, director of John Deere FarmSight and a part of the Intelligent Solutions Group at John Deere.

One of the new FarmSight services is Remote Display Access, which allows users to view the operator’s display screen on their John Deere equipment.  It gives farmers and dealers the ability to remotely supervise and support field operations.  We asked Jeff Buyck, integrated solutions manager for C & B Operations, a 21-store John Deere dealership based in Pipestone, Minnesota, to explain how it works and how it benefits their customers.

Tyler Hogrefe is a product manager in John Deere’s Intelligent Solutions Group.  He described for us some of the other new services, including Implement Detection and Mobile Weather.
