DEKALB introduces Disease Shield

Webb and Waller CC16During 2016 Commodity Classic, DEKALB launched DEKALB Disease Shield, combining its exclusive genetics with enhanced protection against the top 5 yield-robbing corn diseases that farmers face today.

Becca Waller, DEKALB brand manager tells Brownfield that the new lineup will help maximize yield potential and yield protection.  Waller said seed selection is the number one priority because when you put that seed in the ground, its maximum yield potential has already been determined.  It’s all about management practices to protect that seed and finding the right seed for the right acre.  With this new line you get risk mitigation and comprehensive protection against the most common, yield-robbing corn diseases today, including anthracnose stalk rot, gray leaf spot, Goss’s wilt, northern corn leaf blight and, in limited geographies, southern rust.

In any given year, farmers do not know which disease is going to attack.  Jarod Webb, DEKALB Product development manager tells Brownfield farmers will be able to maximize the potential of their top-yielding DEKALB products and grow more confidently.

On-farm trials are planned for the 2016 season to give farmers the opportunity to experience the comprehensive disease protection firsthand and to provide feedback to help us make future commercialization decisions.  These products will be available for the 2017 growing season and will be the latest solution on the market to help farmers maximize yield through industry-leading protection against major diseases.
