House bill concerns NCGA president

The president of the National Corn Growers Association  says the organization has concerns about the farm policy-only farm bill that passed the House today and the way it came about.  Pam Johnson, a grower in Floyd County Iowa, tells Brownfield the NCGA does not want nutrition policy split from the farm bill, that they are not pleased with the Commodity Title in the House version, but that’s not all.  She says, “We also express dismay about removing the 1949 permanent law because we think we need some impetus there for Congress to move on a farm bill, not only this time around but in the future.” Johnson says the NCGA favors the market based reform approach of the Senate-passed farm bill.
