Jerry Passer
Jerry Passer grew up in Wells, Minnesota. His father owned a hatchery and feed business. From the time he was small child, Passer wanted to be a radio announcer. He used to hook his Mom’s strainer to a string and tie it to a radio and pretend he was on the air. After high school graduation Passer attended Brown Institute of Broadcasting. Following stint in the Navy he began a broadcast career that has spanned more than 40 years. Passer worked at stations in Blue Earth, Albert Lea and Austin Minnesota, Cedar Rapids and Oelwein, Iowa and spent nearly 20 years as Farm Director for WMT in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Jerry has traveled extensively, including trips to North Africa, Belgium and Mexico with Agriculture Secretary John Block. Passer has received many awards from farm organizations over the years and is an Honorary Iowa Master Pork Producer. He has served on many agribusiness committees, and served as a Regional Vice President in the National Association of Farm Broadcaster. Passer has a daughter, son and four grandchildren and likes to spend his vacation time with the grandchildren in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and his daughter’s home in West Virginia.
