Nick Fassler, BASF Technical Marketing Manager responsible for Headline in corn and soybeans said growers saw value from Headline fungicide from 2007 – 2009 to the tune of 12 to 16 bushel per acre in yield enhancement. In more than 6,000 on-farm trials in the past five years, growers using Headline fungicide realized a yield advantage of 4 to 8 bushels per acre in soybeans, 12 to 16 bushels per acre in corn and 10 to 14 bushels per acre in cereals.
Very pleased with the success of Headline, Fassler believes the launch of Headline Amp will have the same success.
Fassler asked crop consultants in attendance to work with growers, evaluate their situations, see where Headline or Headline Amp will work on their acres to help that grower realize higher yields and get a greater return on investment on those acres for all of the investment he’s putting into it.

Cattle and beef prices are expected to average slightly higher in 2010 than they did in 2009. And, while profits should improve, they will remain thin for cow-calf operators and cattle feeders. Those are two of the predictions made by CattleFax experts during their 2010 Outlook Seminar in San Antonio. As the seminar conluded, CattleFax executive vice president Randy Blach summarized the current situation and discussed the long-term outlook for the industry.

The issue of wild horse management is starting to heat up. The Humane Society of the United States is becoming more vocal about what it calls “the Bureau of Land Management’s cruel and unnecessary wild horse roundups” and has enlisted several celebrities to help with their cause. At the Cattle Industry Conference, we visited with Gene Fults, who is a rangeland management specialist with the Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative. Gene’s territory is the 13 western states, so he is well aware of the wild horse issue. Gene says that the wild horse population is increasing rapidly and needs proper management. And he says it’s not just a public lands issue—it’s also spilling over onto private lands.
