For combine and tractor parts, it’s Abilene Machine

Randy Roelofsen is the president of Abilene Machine.  In visiting with Randy at Husker Harvest Days, we learned that Abilene Machine stocks a huge inventory of new and remanufactured tractor and combine parts for John Deere, Case IH, International, Ford New Holland, the AGCO line of products including, Allis Chalmers, Gleaner, Massey Ferguson and White, plus other major brands of equipment.  Abilene Machine is also one of the largest tractor and combine salvage operations in the United States.

Precision Planting says ‘yield is in the details’

Valley offers irrigation quality, innovation

When we stopped by the Valley display at Husker Harvest Days, the Valley Irrigation folks were anxious to talk about the Valley Gearbox and what sets it apart from the competition.  Product manager Scott Mauseth also talked with us about Valley’s new tire pressure monitoring system and gave us an update on variable rate irrigation.

Case IH will use SCR to meet standards

Case IH has announced that it will meet the 2014 Tier 4B (Tier 4 Final) engine emissions standards using exclusively Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology – the same technology that Case IH is now using to meet Tier 4A interim standards in high-horsepower tractors.   Tom Dean, Case IH marketing manager for high horsepower tractors, gives us the details in this Husker Harvest Days interview.

Pioneer’s AQUAmax shows 6% advantage

Early 2011 harvest results from Texas show that Pioneer’s new drought-tolerant Optimum AQUAmax corn hybrids are out-yielding competitors by six percent.  That’s in line with Pioneer’s previous trials, from 2008-2010, in which the AQUAmax hybrids demonstrated a five percent average yield advantage over competitors. Ag buildings business is booming

Steve Bohlman, vp of sales & marketing for Wick Buildings, says their business is up 85 percent this year, largely due to agricultural demand and the healthy ag economy.  In a Husker Harvest Days interview, Bohlman also talked about the uncertainty with Section 179 tax credits and current trends in ag buildings.

A-FAN bridges gap between farmers, consumers

The stated mission of A-FAN—the Alliance for the Future of Agriculture in Nebraska—is “to ensure the continued viability and opportunity for growth of Nebraska agriculture into the future through coordinated outreach, promotional and educational efforts.”  At Husker Harvest Days, A-FAN organizational director Willow Holoubek gaveus an update on their campaign to help “bridge the gap” between farmers and ranchers and their consumers.
