Polymer coated urea may qualify for incentive

Producers may be eligible for federal monetary incentives through the use of enhanced efficiency fertilizers. Agrium Advanced Technologies Marketing Manager Ben Nelson says the Natural Resources Conservation Service is interested in soil nutrients applied with water quality improvement in mind. Specifically, the nutrient Nelson has in mind, ESN, is a polymer-coated nitrogen source. Its availability will also improve once an extra production facility is finished in the Boot Heel of Missouri.

Ethanol blend increase still awaited

Bob Dinneen’s arguments for increasing the blend rate for ethanol in gasoline are passionate. The president and CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association is confident that ethanol’s fortunes have changed for the better, but he’s impatient with delays of rule changes that would allow the blend rate for the corn-based fuel in automotive gas to go from the present 10 percent to 15 percent. To hear it from Bob Dinneen, the time is right for the increase to happen sooner rather than later.

AGCO can boast fuel savings

New emission technology is paying dividends for the folks at AGCO. According to the Nebraska test, farmers can expect a fuel savings of 17 percent on their high horsepower, fixed frame tractor series. Introducing the John Deere high speed applicator

Another new piece of equipment launched at the 2010 National Farm Machinery Show is the John Deere 23 row, 2510 H high speed applicator. Steve Drissel, Product Marketing Manager for Tillage Products says this new, 57 1/2 foot wide applicator offers the same features as the smaller units.
