Nebraska Panhandle gets rain, east is dry

It was warm this past week in Nebraska, but an inch or more of rain fell in the southwest and parts of the southern Panhandle.  The eastern half of the state is mostly dry. Topsoil moisture is 65 percent adequate to surplus.

Corn is 82 percent silking, 13 percent in the dough stage and 79 good to excellent.

Three-quarters of the soybeans are blooming, 19 percent are setting pods and the crop is 77 good to excellent.

Winter wheat cutting is 92 percent done and the crop is 65 percent good to excellent.

Alfalfa is 78 percent good to excellent. The second cutting is 92 percent done, the third cutting is 21 percent done.
