Julie Harker was born in Chicago, spent her school years in the Ozarks and graduated from SMSU in Springfield, Missouri (now MSU) where she began her radio career on campus at KSMU.  Julie then worked in small town radio for several years in both Missouri and Arkansas.

Julie joined Brownfield Ag News in 2007 and has been with its parent company, Learfield Communications Inc., for 20-plus years.  Prior to joining Brownfield, Julie was an anchor/reporter with the Missourinet followed by several years with the company’s newswire service, Learfield Data.  She hosted The Healthy Family radio program and has produced podcasts through Learfield Interaction for AgriMissouri and the Missouri Farmers Market Association.

Julie has won two Marketcast awards, a Newscast award and an Excellence in Ag Reporting award from the National Association of Farm Broadcasting.  In 2010, she was given the Milt Hakel Award for Excellence in Ag Communications by the National Farmers Union.  In addition to ag news, Julie produces Brownfield’s consumer education program, Healthy Living.

Julie and her husband Bob are proud parents of Eric, John and Sarah.
