Illinois gets heat, much needed rain

It was hot this past week in Illinois, but scattered rain brought much needed moisture to parts of the state. Topsoil moisture is 72 percent adequate to surplus. Corn is 4 percent silked and the crop is 71 percent good to excellent. Soybean blooming is at 7 percent, and the crop is 71 percent good to excellent. Winter wheat cutting picked up this past week, jumping to 76 percent complete, up 38 percentage points from last week. The crop is 70 percent good to excellent.  Illinois pastures are 65 percent good to excellent.
