Spotty rains stressing Iowa crops

Warm weather and spotty rains across much of Iowa is stressing some crops, especially across the lower two-thirds of the state.

More than three-quarters of Iowa’s corn crop continues to be rated in good to excellent condition. Soybean emergence reached 97 percent, 11 days ahead of both last year and the average. Oats headed reached 81 percent this week, Oat acreage coloring reached four percent.

The first cut of alfalfa hay reached 96 percent complete this week, above average for the year. The second cutting of alfalfa reached six percent
